Southall drew 1-1 with North Greenford
United in their final home game of the season. Southall were
depleted with the absences of Chris Barrett and Donal O'Sullivan
injured together Sam Turner and Jerry Moses unavailable. The
visitors were without leading goal scorer John Hill.
North Greenford opened the scoring in the 10th minute through an
excellent shot by Mockler and were reduced to ten men when
McLaughlin was sent off for striking Alan Johnson.
The second half saw a flurry of yellow cards for Southall with
Tony Gordon and Andre Robinson cautioned for verbal abuse whilst
Shane O'Sullivan, Steve Macenzie and Kieron Chambers found their
way into Mr Gilchrist's book for foul play.

from Alpha Bangura. This result extends Southall's unbeaten run to
eight matches.

Former Southall player Alan Devonshire
currently manager of Maidenhead United has decided to leave the Ryman League

one promotion, seven cup finals and the highest League position in
their 133-year history.
April 21st
A late headed equaliser from Shane
O'Sullivan enabled Southall to stretch their unbeaten run to six
matches with a 1-1 draw away to Hartley Wintney and they remain in
twelfth position in the Seagrave Haulage League.
Wesley Hines was cautioned for a bad tackle and was the only
Southall booking in the match.

The report
of the Godalming & Guildford match is now on the web site.
April 19th
A goal in the 17th minute from Donal
O'Sullivan was enough to give Southall all three points at home to
Godalming & Guildford.
In a game devoid of strong challenges and other yellow cards
Tony Gordon was double yellow carded in the 31st minute by referee
Ian Stevens following an exchange of comments between the two
parties.
Manager Frank Gill had this to say after the match:
Considering that they were fourth we looked the better side.
Even with one man down we had chances, clear cut chances. It was
our lack of finishing that stopped us from wrapping up the game.
Southall Reserves completed their season in the Select
Appointments Middlesex County League when they lost 5-1 away to
second placed Marsh Rangers.

A report
of the Viking Greenford game is now on the web site.
April 15th
Southall left it late to beat bottom club
Viking Greenford 2-1 at Mill Meadow. The visitors took the lead
shortly before half time following a defensive blunder. Donal
O'Sullivan equalised midway through the second half and a headed
goal from Tony Gordon in the dying minutes secured all three
points for the home team.
The recent improved disciplinary record was blemished with the
dismissal of Lonyo Ifale for allegedly swearing at one of the
assistant referees.
Forty years ago today Southall achieved
their record home win in a league match when they defeated
Carshalton Athletic 11-0 in an Athenian League fixture.
To recognise this achievement the match report of that historic
match can be found here.

A report
of the Cobham match is now on the web site.
April 12th
Southall completed the double over Cobham
with a 3-1 victory at the Leg O' Mutton Field.
A first half goal by Wesley Hines gave the visitors a 1-0 half
time lead. Shane O' Sullivan added a second goal shortly after the
interval only for Cobham to pull one back two minutes later. The
third and decisive goal came in the 83rd minute when a fine finish
from Donal O'Sullivan rounded off an excellent team move.
It needs to be noted once again that there were no bookings at
all for any Southall players.
Manager Frank Gill had this to say after the match:
At last most of the players are now concentrating on their
footballing ability. We have some of the best footballers in the
league. Football League Scouts regularly turn up at matches to
watch our younger players. The latest is Alan Johnson who
for an 18 year old has come on in leaps and bounds. He is our most
improved player this season.
April 11th
Following their demolition of Rochdale
Rovers the next match for Southall in 1896 was the Middlesex
Senior Cup Final. This was played at Gunnersbury Lane in Ealing.
In front of over 5000 spectators Southall drew 1-1 with old rivals
Uxbridge.
April 9th
At the start of April in 1928 Southall
toured the Channel Islands and on this day they played their third
and final match of their short tour.
After beating the Royal West Kent Regiment 5-1 and Guernsey Island
9-0 they finished with a 3-1 victory over Jersey Island.
To accommodate their Athenian League fixtures the Club had signed
en-masse the players of H.M.S. Excellent (Portsmouth) to represent
the Club. These players appeared against Kingstonian home and away
drawing each match 2-2.
It seems that even in those days Southall courted controversy!
April 6th
This day in 1896 was Easter Monday and
Southall completed their Easter programme with a visit from
Rochdale Rovers. Buoyant from a 4-1 home win over North Woolwich
on Good Friday Southall demolished the Lancashire side 11-1.
Fifty years ago today Eric Parker scored all five goals in a 5-1
thrashing of Hitchin Town in an Athenian League fixture played at
Western Road.
April 5th
Southall entertained Farnham Town at Mill
Meadow and won 2-1 to complete the double over their Surrey
opponents. Goals from Jerry Moses and Udo Akpan gave Southall a
deserved 2-0 lead at half time.
The second half saw no further scoring until time added on by the
referee when Farnham scored a consolation goal.
After all the recent adverse publicity about the disciplinary
problems at Southall Football Club it is pleasing to report that
there were no cautions nor dismissals for any Southall players.
It is hoped that this is duly noted by all those people who have
called for Southall to be expelled from the Seagrave Haulage
League.
April 2nd

decision was made by the Seagrave Haulage League last night as to
