August 30th
A preview of the F.A. Cup
match against Uxbridge is now on the web site. This will also
appear in the matchday programme.
The F.A. Cup records
of Southall and Uxbridge over the last ten years can also be
viewed.
August 27th
Southall lost their
home Bank Holiday Monday match against AFC Wallingford by four goals to
one.
After a goalless first half in which neither side
showed superiority Southall took the upper hand and took the lead
through a well worked move which was expertly finished by Andre
Robinson. Although the visitors equalised within five minutes it
was Southall who looked the more likely to score again.
Then followed a shambolic last fifteen minutes which saw team
spirit disintegrate, another total lack of discipline from
Shane O'Sullivan which saw him dismissed from the field and
Wallingford score three more goals to end the match as easy
winners.
A performance like this in the F.A. Cup against Uxbridge will
certainly result in a heavy defeat and an early exit from the
competition.

August 26th

August 25th
Two goals from Koko
and one each from Smith and Powell helped Southall gain their first
points of the season with a 4-1 win away to Cranleigh.
August 21st
Southall lost 2-1 away to
Raynes Park Vale in the Combined Counties League.
August 19th
The match report of the Cove
game written by Steve Cullen is now on the web site.
August 18th
Southall began the new
season in the Combined Counties League with a 4-2 home defeat by
reigning champions Cove.
The visitors were two goals ahead within the first four minutes of
the game before Cliff Thomas pulled one back in the 12th
minute. Cove restored their two goal lead in the next minute.
The second half saw Cove go 4-1 ahead after 64 minutes
with Southall completing the scoring in the 90th minute with a
goal from Phil Simpson.
Southall's opening day record for the past ten seasons shows three
victories and seven defeats.

The web master has recently
been contacted by Danny Adams whose great great uncle Harry Young
was a member of the 1926-1927 Athenian League Championship side.
Danny included photographs of the trophy that was awarded to Harry
and these can be viewed here. Please note
that these may take a while to download.
Unfortunately we have been unable to assist Danny in providing any
more information about Harry or even providing a photograph of
that great side.
