December 2002

December 31st
The archive material for the final season in the Isthmian League, 1999-2000, is now on the web site as is the 2000-2001 season, the first in the Combined Counties League.

December 30th
The long awaited web site archive material is now being put onto the current web site. At the moment the archive material for the 1998-1999 season has been uploaded and can be accessed following the Archives link.

December 29th
The Hartley Wintney match report is now on the web site.

The whole of Steve Cullen's excellent Terrace Talk series which cover the seasons 1999-2000, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 is  now on the web site. The three seasons can be accessed using the Features link then selecting Terrace Talk.
If you want a record of the happenings both on and off the field at Southall Football Club from the point of view of a long standing supporter then this is essential reading.


December 28th
Southall gave a superb  team performance at Mill Meadow to beat Hartley Wintney by two goals to nil despite being reduced to nine men late in the first half. Ryan Da Costa was dismissed in the 36th minute after having been adjudged to have committed a 'professional foul' and two minutes later Andre Robinson was sent off by referee Green for dissent. 
During the second half Southall showed passion and determination and goals from Alpha Bangura and Phil Eagle helped ensure that Southall took all three points from the match.


December 27th
It seems as though some people are experiencing  problems accessing the excerpt of the interview with Feliz Navidad. If you contact the web master then the file will be sent to you directly. Please ensure that your email is configured to receive messages of over 500mb.
You must also ensure that Windows Media Player or other software to read avi files is installed and functioning correctly on your machine.

December 26th
Our look back at 1952-53 season - the Amateur Cup Semi Final season - continues. Use the Features link to access the December 1952 match reports which form part of this season's programme articles.
Also added is a look at Southall during Christmas Week with matches going as far back as December 24th 1892.
Remember to check out the excerpt from the press conference given by Feliz Navidad. The file is in AVI format and is about 600mb long. It is very revealing and well worth the wait for the download.


December 24th
Southall are pleased to announce the appointment of Feliz Navidad to the combined roles of First Team Coach and Director of Football at the club.
Spanish born Navidad, 32, made appearances for Alaves, Valencia and Deportivo in the Spanish League and had a short spell with Sampdoria in Italy. An injury cut short his playing career and he moved into coaching roles at Betis and Osasuna.

Navidad, who has signed a two year contract, will take up his post after the busy festive schedule.

December 22nd
The Bedfont match report is now on the web site.

December 21st
Southall's inconsistent form continued when they lost 3-2 at home to Middlesex neighbours Bedfont. Clinical finishing and a hat trick from the impressive Mark Postins proved to be the difference between the two sides. The Southall goals came from Shane and Donal O'Sullivan. Phil Eagle was sent off during the second half.

Southall Reserves crashed  9-0 at home to Hanworth Villa Reserves in the Select Appointments Middlesex County League.

December 20th
The Frimley Green match report is now on the web site.


December 18th
A brace of goals from Donal O'Sullivan and a fine individual goal from Andre Robinson helped Southall secure a 3-1 victory over Frimley Green.
Frank Gill gave a debut to new signing Phil Eagle who has been playing this season with Doc Martins outfit Dartford. Eagle was on the books of Millwall and made league appearances for Cambridge United.


December 15th
Southall will now play their away match with Frimley Green on Tuesday January 28th. 

An article has appeared in the latest edition of the Non-League Paper concerning the recent decision of the web master to close this site for an indefinite period. The web master would like to point out that  differences of opinion have been resolved and that he and the current officials  of the Club share the common goal of  the long term survival of Southall Football Club and the return of the club to play in the Southall area.


December 14th
Southall visited twentieth  placed Westfield in their latest Seagrave Haulage League fixture and came away with a 2-2 draw. After trailing 1-0 at  half time a Chris Barrett header early in the second half brought the scores level only for the home team to re-establish their lead a short time later. With three minutes of the game remaining Shane O'Sullivan scored from the penalty spot to gave Southall a share of the points from a game that they should have won had they converted their many scoring opportunities.

Southall Reserves picked up their first point since September 7th when they drew 2-2 away to Hanworth Villa Reserves.


December 11th
The web master has been advised that the Seagrave Haulage League fixture at home to Frimley Green which was scheduled for Tuesday December 17th has been moved to the following day. This is due to Chalfont St Peter reported to be involved in a cup replay on the original date.

December 10th
Southall threw away a two goal lead to lose 4-2 away to Sandhurst Town. Goals from Mo Kadi and a penalty from Shane O'Sullivan gave the visitors an early lead but the home team pulled one back before half time. Three second half goals completed the scoring. This is the third consecutive defeat away to Sandhurst and follows on from 3-1 and 4-0 defeats in past seasons.

December 9th
Southall have been drawn away to Ash United in Round Three of the Premier Division Challenge Cup. The match will be played on Saturday February 1st. The match away to Frimley Green which was scheduled for that date will have to be re-arranged.

December 7th
Southall enjoyed an impressive 5-0 home win over Cobham. Two goals from Shane O'Sullivan gave Southall a 2-0 lead at half time. Brother Donal added a third just after the hour and Chris Barrett headed home a corner five minutes later. Shane O'Sullivan completed his hat trick three minutes from time when he converted a penalty after Andre Robinson had been fouled.

December 3rd
Ted Bennett, Johnny Blizzard, Eric Parker, Morgan Reynolds,  Johnny Way. Do these names have a special meaning for you?
