The following is a statement from Peter Clayton, Chief Executive of the Middlesex County Football Association.

Southall Football Club

After weeks of protracted negotiations, the Association has now received payments in full of the £14000 debts that were owed by Southall Football Club to their various footballing partners.

This is extremely pleasing as it does now mean that, from a financial point of view, Southall FC is cleared to resume playing football and, hopefully can eventually be restored to its rightful position in senior football as one of our oldest established clubs.

Having spoken with new parties to the Club's management, I feel that I am able to work with them to restore their credibility in football and I would hope to assist them in retaining a position in an appropriate league.

I am pleased that I have been able to send cheques to the various parties who were owed money by Southall FC.

As, I the club has been let down by few sponsors, it has run to financial  difficulties which got out of control through further promises of financial help that have been delayed.

The situation at Southall was featured in today's Non League Paper. The text is reproduced below:

Southall given 48 hours to pay

Combined Counties high fliers Southall were last night facing suspension by the Middlesex FA unless they can find a four figure sum to pay off their football debts within 48 hours.

The sum includes £7,650 to Yeading for the hire of the Warren Ground - their home this season - as well as cash owed to the Middlesex FA and the League.

Southall, in existence since 1871, have until 5pm on Tuesday to meet the debt or the club will be suspended.

Should Southall fail to pay, that figure could grow to almost £10,000 as the association begins the business of reclaiming the money, which will see the club's players also billed for the debt.

"We have never had to take this kind of action against a senior club before," said a league spokesman.

The players would also be banned from playing  and the escape route of transfers would also be closed.

The suspension was originally put in place on Thursday; but under a deal brokered between landlords Yeading and Southall the County FA agreed to waive the suspension until Tuesday.

The late decision to give Southall more time failed to prevent the postponement of yesterday's League clash at Bedfont.

Meanwhile, Southall's future will be discussed at a specially convened meeting of all Combined Counties clubs on March 13.

Southall Football Club - The Current Situation

The web master has been advised of the following:

Southall Football Club was suspended on Thursday February 9th by the Middlesex County Football Association for a failure to comply with a Rule 12 notice served upon the Club with regard to non payment of ground share rent to Yeading Football Club.

As a consequence of the above action the Combined Counties League postponed the match away to Bedfont due to be played on Saturday February 11th.

Following conversation today between Southall Football Club and Yeading Football Club the latter has agreed
to the suspension of Southall’s suspension, that the Middlesex County Football Association had put in place at the request of Yeading, until 5pm on Tuesday February 14th. This is to allow time for Southall Football Club to pay the outstanding ground share rent of £7650 to the Middlesex County Football Association to satisfy the conditions imposed by the Rule 12 notice.

The Combined Counties League has given notice to its member clubs of an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on March 13th at Woking FC called to discuss the future of Southall Football Club within the organisation.

The member clubs will be asked at the EGM to consider whether Southall Football Club should be removed from Combined Counties League competitions for the remainder of the 2005-2006 season and also to consider the conditions that will have to be met for the inclusion of Southall Football Club in the constitution of the Combined Counties League for the 2006-2007 season.
