July 2004 - June 2005

June 17th
An agreement has been reached with Yeading Football Club for Southall to ground share with the Conference South side for the coming season.

June 13th
The draw for the Premier Challenge Cup was made at the AGM of the Combined Counties League held at Woking Football Club.

In the First Round Southall have been drawn at home to Division One side Chobham. If they are successful Southall will then visit the winners of the tie between Horley Town and Bookham.

May 7th
Southall rounded off their 134th season with a 1-0 home defeat by Chipstead. The visitors scored the only goal of the game after 23 minutes when Herve King's 20 yard free kick struck the inside of the post and rolled into the net. Southall had the majority of the possession and chances but were unable to break through a resolute Chipstead defence to grab a deserved equaliser.

Southall Reserves completed their season in the Middlesex County League with an excellent 4-3 home win over Martin Baker Sports Reserves.

May 2nd
Southall played host to Cove in the morning kick off at The Meadow. After a goalless first half Leon Fisher broke the deadlock on the hour mark but Southall were denied their first win in five matches by an equaliser from Cove three minutes from the end of normal time.

April 30th
Southall Reserves suffered heartbreak as they lost 3-2 in the  Middlesex County League Reserve Division Cup Final against North Greenford United Social Reserves played at Yeading FC.

Regarded as very much the underdogs Southall Reserves stunned their opponents with two first half goals. A mixture of sheer hard work and superb team work meant that Southall were able to take the match to North Greenford and goals from Malik Alfaiaz and Dean Brown were just rewards for the endeavour shown by Asher Phillip's team.

Obviously shocked North Greenford began the second half with more determination and pulled one back through Gary Saville. Although under much pressure Southall regularly hit their opponents on the counter attack and came close to adding a third through the impressive Andre Williams. North Greenford forced home an equaliser through Daniel Wood and three minutes from time with the game still very much in the balance Will Tyler gave them their third and as it proved match winning goal.

This was an excellent performance from Southall Reserves and congratulations must be given to Asher Phillips and his team.

In contrast  Southall's  First Team produced a disappointing and disjointed performance away to Cobham and slumped to a 3-0 defeat. Two goals from Steve Mesher, one in each half, and one from Cornell McKoy helped Cobham take all three points.

April 26th
Southall lost 5-1 away to third placed Chessington & Hook United. Southall were reduced to ten men as early as the fourth minute when Adrian Griffiths was dismissed for violent conduct. Chessington & Hook took full advantage of this and sped into a four goal lead by half time.

After the interval Leon Dussard pulled one back for the visitors before Chessington and Hook added their fifth and final goal  to complete a night of misery for Southall Football Club.

April 23rd
Southall fought out a hard earned draw against Ash United in their latest Combined Counties League match at The Meadow. The home side was hampered with the loss of Donal O'Sullivan after a quarter of an hour with a serious facial injury. The deadlock was broken in the final minute of the first half when Gavin Evans gave Ash United the lead when he scored from close range after the otherwise well marshalled Southall defence had failed to adequately clear the ball from their own penalty area.

The second half saw Southall more resolute in attack with the impressive Leon Fisher causing serious problems for the visiting defence. Southall drew level after 64 minutes when superb work from John Edwards put through Andre Robinson who rounded goalkeeper Fitzpatrick to steer the ball safely home from twelve yards.

The remainder of the game saw both sides come close but in the end for two very evenly matched sides a draw was a fair result.

April 19th
Cris Barrett has been honoured with selection to represent the Football Association in a match against the Jersey FA as part of the Jersey FA Centenary celebrations.
The FA XI will be managed by England National Game Manager and Barnet Manager Paul Fairclough.
The match will take place on Monday May 9th at the Springfield Stadium, St Helier. Kick off is at 6.00 pm

Cris, whose previous clubs include Whitstable Town, Beckenham Town, Tilbury, Fisher, Welling United and Cray Wanderers,  joined Southall during the 2000-2001 season and has made over 160 appearance for the Club.

April 16th
Southall visited fourth from bottom Farnham Town and lost 1-0 to a goal after twenty minutes by Ross Hodgson. Despite good possession and numerous scoring chances Southall were unable to find an equaliser and succumbed to their first ever defeat against Farnham Town.
Marvin Hong was cautioned for Unsporting Behaviour whilst Shane O'Sullivan was booked for Dissent.

Southall Reserves lost 2-0 away to North Greenford  United Social Reserves.

April 10th
Southall are in second place in the Combined Counties League Premier Division Fair Play Table. They are just one point behind leaders Godalming & Guildford. The table includes cautions and dismissals up to April 2nd.

April 9th
Southall kept up the impetus for a top ten finish with a 2-0 win over fellow mid table side AFC Guildford. There was little to choose between the two sides in the first half until the 34th minute when Jerry Moses fired home after the visiting goalkeeper dropped Southall's first corner of the game.

Apart from a goal by Donal O'Sullivan three minutes into stoppage time the second half did nothing to encourage the sparse crowd to come back to watch another Southall match. Even though Southall controlled the second half the display produced and the attitude that was demonstrated left much to be desired.

Time after time Southall showed that it is still a collection of individuals who are  unable to play together as a football team. It was also unpleasant to witness  the verbal abuse directed towards the match officials by some of the players.

The Club needs to ensure that it does not allow the attitude of some members of  Southall Football Club to once again ruin its reputation.

April 6th
Shane O'Sullivan has been found guilty by a Commission of the Disciplinary Committee of the Middlesex County Football Association of  the charge of  'Use of offensive, insulting or abusive language or gestures towards match officials.' and of  'Bringing the game into disrepute'.

March 19th

March 18th
Erron Dussard has received a seven day suspension and a fine totalling £23 for his dismissal in the match against Horley Town.
Dussard will serve his suspension from April 11th until April 17th inclusive.

March 15th
Horley Town ended Southall's impressive run of league victories when they defeated Southall 2-1 at The New Defence. Jupp opened the scoring for the home side after 23 minutes with Denis Danso equalising in the 45th minute. The game was settled with six minutes remaining when Waddock scored for Horley Town.
Erron Dussard was sent off after receiving a second caution.

March 12th

Danso will serve his suspension from April 4th until May 8th inclusive.

March 5th
Southall returned to winning ways with a 3-2 win over fifth placed Sandhurst Town. Scorers were Denis Danso with two goals and John Edwards with one. This was Southall's 100th victory in the Combined Counties League.

March 4th
There will be a pitch inspection at 11.00 am tomorrow to decide if the match at home to Sandhurst Town can take place.

March 1st
Southall faced Ryman Premier side Yeading for the second successive week, this time in the Quarter Final of the Middlesex Charity Cup, but the result remained the same, a 3-1 defeat.
Southall began the match the brighter of the two sides and could have gone ahead long before they did. A superbly taken goal by John Edwards in the 15th minute was just reward for their early pressure.
The lead however was short lived with Errol Telemaque equalising for the home side after 26 minutes when he accurately headed home a cross to the back post. Yeading took the lead five minutes later when quick approach play penetrated a square looking Southall defence to allow Marvin Morgan to slip the ball past Jason Hartles in the Southall goal.
Yeading gave themselves a two goal cushion in the 57th minute when a Errol Telemaque rounded off a quick counterattack with a well struck shot from outside the area.
Southall stuck to their task and with steadier finishing could have reduce the Yeading lead. The game, played in front of a crowd of 43,  ended 3-1 to Yeading and earned them a home tie in the Semi Final of the Competition against either Wealdstone or Harrow Borough.

February 26th
The match away to Chessington & Hook United was postponed due to an unplayable pitch.

February 22nd
Southall's long winning run and interest in the Middlesex Senior Challenge Cup came to an end with a 3-1 defeat in the Semi Final away to Ryman Premier League leaders Yeading.
Southall, in front of a crowd of 51,  were stunned by a goal in the first minute from Emond Protain but steadied themselves and fought back to equalise through Jerry Moses in the 13th minute. Both sides showed imagination and good passing football in the first half and the deadlock was broken seven minutes before half time when DJ Campbell put the home side ahead.
In the second half Southall easily matched their more illustrious opponents and had good chances to equalise before DJ Campbell added his second of the night in the 88th minute from the penalty spot. Southall hit back straight away when a shot from Denis Danso appeared to cross the Yeading goal line but to the chagrin of the Southall players and the vociferous Southall supporters the 'goal' was not given.

February 19th
Southall made it ten successive victories in all competitions - seven in the league with a hard fought 2-1 home win over Merstham.
Donal  O' Sullivan gave Southall the lead after nine minutes with a low shot from the edge of the penalty area. Andre Robinson doubled the lead in spectacular fashion when he volleyed home a cross by Donal O'Sullivan in the 27th minute.
Merstham pulled one back six minutes into the second half through a headed goal by Chris Boulter. Both sides had opportunities to add to the scoresheet but Southall did just enough to stay ahead and to extend their impressive winning streak.
Marvin Elliott and Andre Robinson picked up cautions in the first half.

Southall Reserves lost 1-0 away to Spelthorne Sports Reserves

February 16th
Southall continued their winning run with a 3-2 victory over Middlesex rivals Feltham.

In a game that was prominent for the number of missed chances on both sides the visitors took the lead in the first minute when Alan Gould scored from the penalty spot.

Jason Walker levelled the score in the 12th minute when he fired home a penalty after Donal O'Sullivan had been brought down by goal keeper Ryder.

Cris Barett put Southall into the lead after 56 minutes when he headed home an accurate free kick from  Jerry Moses. With just under twenty minutes remaining Marvin Elliott steered home a cross from Andre Robinson to give Southall a two goal advantage.

The substitutions made just prior to the third Southall goal seemed to upset the balance of the team and Feltham took advantage of this to score their second goal with nine minutes remaining.

Southall weathered a late Feltham challenge to record their ninth successive victory in all competitions and their sixth in the Combined Counties League.

Southall returned to league action  with a 3-0 win away to Cove. After a blank first half goals from Andre Robinson, Donal O'Sullivan and Marvin Elliott secured all three points for Southall and extended their winning run to eight matches.

The excellent sequence of eight wins is the best since the 1974-1975 season but still has a long way to go to beat the record of 16 successive victories achieved in the 1935-1936 season.

In this record run which stretched from September 2nd 1935 until December 28th 1935 Southall scored 91 goals conceding 16. All of the sixteen matches were cup ties and included a 3-1 victory over Swindon Town in Round One of the FA Cup.

Southall Reserves continued their good run of form with a 2-2 home draw against Hanworth Villa Reserves. This result extended their unbeaten run to five matches.

January 13th
The Second Round Middlesex Senior Cup match away to Harefield United will be played on Tuesday January 18th, kick off 7.45 pm

January 9th
Former Southall player Michael Barima was part of the Yeading team that lost 2-0 to Newcastle United in Round Three of the FA Cup today.
Michael made his Southall debut on August 14th 1999 against Aveley and made 38 starts and 7 substitute appearances for the Club during the 1999-2000 season  scoring two goals in the process.
He is remembered as one of the few players who remained loyal to Southall Football Club during our final season in the Isthmian League.

January 8th
Southall lost 4-1 at home to Chessington & Hook United and remain perilously close to the bottom of the Combined Counties League.
Early exchanges were even with goal mouth incidents few and far between.  The visitors broke the deadlock when a cross from the right was headed home by a completely unmarked Daniel Moorhouse. Chessington & Hook doubled their lead deep into first half stoppage time when Niel Wicks steered the ball home following a defensive misunderstanding.
In the second half Southall started brightly and in the 51st minute reduced the arrears through Andre Robinson who followed up after the impressive Mark Russel in the visiting goal had parried a goal bound shot.
Southall continued to have the majority of the possession but the neat and well worked approach play came to nothing due to the inability to get the ball into goal scoring positions. The visitors punished Southall in the 58th minute when Steve Goddard pounced on another defensive blunder to restore their two goal lead.
Southall continued to push forward but to no avail and in the fourth minute of added time Steve Goddard popped up to prod the ball home after it had struck the Southall woodwork.
Although the scoreline of 4-1 is somewhat flattering to Chessington & Hook it does not disguise the fact that conceding soft goals is a recipe for disaster and that no matter how pretty and well structured the approach play  is, without a decisive final ball into the danger area, goals will be hard to come by.

Goals from Andre Williams and Mohammed Kalid helped Southall Reserves secure a 2-0 home win over North Greenford United Social Reserves and thus gain revenge for the 5-2 defeat at the hands of the same opponents earlier in the season.

January 7th
Southall's opponents in Round Two of both the Middlesex Senior and Middlesex Charity Cups are now known.

In the Middlesex Senior Cup Southall are away to Spartan South Midlands side Harefield United. The winners of this tie will be at home to Hillingdon Borough.

No dates have been arranged for either Second Round tie.

January 6th
Southern League Division One East side Dartford FC has the following announcement on their web site  concerning Southall player Donal O'Sullivan.

Manager Tommy Sampson completed the signing of 23 year old central defender/forward Donal O'Sullivan tonight. Donal who scored 27 goals for Southall in the Combined Counties League last season joined up with the Darts in the summer for pre-season training and appeared in pre-season friendlies before deciding to remain with Southall for this season. Donal who has been with Ashford Town recently is expected to be included in the Darts squad to face Harlow Town this coming Saturday.

In his time with Southall Football Club Donal made 88 starts and scored 53 goals.

January 5th

However, the web site no longer shows Gill as being the assistant manager.

January 3rd
Southall put the humiliation of the North Greenford United game behind them with a hard fought 1-1 draw away to fellow strugglers AFC Wallingford.
Jon Hicks put the home side ahead with a stooping header from a James Lee's cross but this advantage was cancelled out when Denver Morris equalised with an excellent curling shot.

December 29th
For the football historians amongst you here is a list of all the Double Figure Maulings that Southall Football Club has endured in its 133 year history.

In connection with the 10-1 thrashing by North Greenford United yesterday an article that first appeared in the match day programme of April 29th 2003 when Southall and North Greenford  United first met as Senior Clubs has been republished.
In brief the article mentions that on March 14th 1953 whilst we were playing Pegasus at Highbury in front of 29982 spectators in the Semi Final of the Amateur Cup, North Greenford United were beating Kensington Invicta in a Harrow & Wembley League match.

How the fortunes of both clubs have changed since then!

The full text of the article can be found here.

December 28th

Southall's recent revival, with seven points from the last nine, was shattered when they were humiliated 10-1 by Middlesex rivals North Greenford United.

North Greenford quickly went into a three goal lead before Denver Morris pulled one back for Southall on the twenty minute mark. The optimism of this goal was short lived as the home side piled on four more goals to lead 7-1 at half time.

The second half was a more even encounter with Southall holding the home side for the first half hour. Three goals in the last quarter of an hour gave North Greenford United double figures and sent Southall home with their tail firmly between their legs.

This was Southall's worst League result for over 60 years since the 10-1 mauling away to Hitchin Town on March 2nd 1941 in a Herts & Middlesex League fixture.

December 25th
Southall are pleased to announce the appointment of Feliz Navidad to the combined roles of First Team Coach and Director of Football at the club.
Spanish born Navidad, 32, made appearances for Alaves, Valencia and Deportivo in the Spanish League and had a short spell with Sampdoria in Italy. An injury cut short his playing career and he moved into coaching roles at Betis and Osasuna.
Navidad, who has signed a two year contract, will take up his post after the busy festive schedule and should be present for the home match against Chessington & Hook United on January 8th.
An excerpt from his press conference given yesterday afternoon at a top hotel near Heathrow Airport can be viewed by following the highlighted  link. Please be patient as the excerpt, which is about 600 mb in size,  may take a few minutes to download dependent upon the speed of your internet connection.

December 22nd
The home match against Feltham, postponed on November 9th and abandoned on November 30th, has been rescheduled for Tuesday February 15th, kick off 7.45 pm.

December 18th
Southall scored five times to record a deserved 5-2 home victory over relegation rivals Chessington United.

Southall started brightly and their constant pressure created an opening for Carlos Newton to  open  the scoring after eight minutes. The visitors equalised after 17 minutes through a penalty expertly converted by James Deacons.

Chessington United were reduced to 10 men after half an hour but Southall were unable to take advantage of the numerical advantage and the half ended all square.

The second half saw Southall go quickly into a 3-1 lead with goals after 48 minutes from John Edwards and one three minutes later from Ryan DeCosta.

The game became very scrappy until Clifton Williams put Southall further ahead in the 68th minute.

Chessington United reduced the arrears through Andre McCollin two minutes later only for Carlos Newton to restore Southall's three goal advantage in the 73rd minute.

There was no further scoring although both Mo Kadi and Landry Lago received cautions for Unsporting Behaviour.

December 11th
A goal five minutes from time by substitute Landry Lago gave Southall a share of the points in their relegation zone clash away to Hartley Wintney.

After a goalless first half which neither side dominated Alex Ruffle put the home side ahead a few minutes into the second half.

Southall battled hard for an equaliser and were justly rewarded with their late goal.

December 9th
Following the submission of a plea of mitigation, a Non Personal Hearing Panel of the Middlesex County Football Association has decided that the penalty imposed on John Edwards for his dismissal from the field of play for receiving two cautions in the match against Bedfont should be changed from a seven day suspension and a £15 fine to solely a fine of £25.

December 8th
Troy Bantleman has lost his appeal against his sending off away to Frimley Green. At a Personal Hearing at the headquarters of the Middlesex County Football Association the Disciplinary Panel decided to uphold his dismissal.
After taking into account his previous excellent disciplinary record the Panel decided that Bantleman should be suspended for 14 days. As a result Bantleman will be suspended from January 3rd 2005 until January 16th 2005.

The Club was ordered to pay the costs of the hearing.

December 7th

December 4th

Goals from Mo Kadi and Clifton Williams helped Southall gain all three points in their away match against Westfield.
Southall welcomed back Marvin Elliott after a brief spell at Ashford Town (Kent) and his experience of over 150 matches for Southall helped steady the team particularly in the second half.

Southall looked comfortable in the first 45 minutes and a goal from Mo Kadi after 35 minutes was scant reward for a good team performance.

As in  the Horley Town match the previous week the second half was in complete contrast. Southall were forced onto the back foot for most of the half and had to be content to hit their opponents with counter attacks. It was from one such attack that Clifton Williams added the second Southall goal three minutes from the end of normal time.

Just when it looked as though Southall would keep their first clean sheet since September a lapse in concentration allowed Stuart Reeves to snatch a consolation goal three minutes into stoppage time.

November 30th
The match at home to Feltham was abandoned after 24 minutes due to fog with Southall leading through a goal from John Edwards on 22 minutes.

November 27th
Southall Reserves lost 2-1 at home to CB Hounslow United Reserves.

November 20th
Southall suffered a heavy defeat 4-1 at the hands of Horley Town and remain in the bottom quarter of the table.
The match was the proverbial game of two halves. The first forty five minutes saw Southall comfortably in control and playing some of the best football seen for a while.
A Jason Walker strike after 11 minutes gave Southall the advantage at half time.

The second half saw Southall disintegrate with three goals conceded in an eight minute spell half way through the session.
The defence was continually exposed due to an almost non existent midfield and Horley Town took full advantage with two goals from Elliot Lywood and one from Nicky White.
The misery was complete with four minutes remaining when Jason Davy punished another example of schoolboy defending by a now dispirited Southall side.

If Southall are to succeed in avoiding relegation this year then they have to show that they are capable of fighting back when behind instead of readily rolling over and conceding a game.

A Vince Cave hat trick helped Southall Reserves to an emphatic 6-1 home win over FC Deportivo Galicia Reserves.

November 13th
Southall recorded their first league victory since September 18th with a well deserved 2-1 home win over Farnham Town.
The visitors shook Southall as early as  the 4th minute when Dan Turkington was first to the ball, following a fine save from debutant Ben Weeden, and steered the ball home to give Farnham Town the lead.
Uninspired play from both sides followed until the 28th minute when Kudzanal Madondo fired home to give Southall the equaliser.
The second half saw the early introduction of Donal O'Sullivan, Jerry Moses and Alpha Bangura. Southall began to show glimpses of the kind of football that took them to a creditable fourth place last season and only inspired goalkeeping from Greg Wellman prevented the home side from taking the lead.
The deadlock was broken with a quarter of an hour remaining when Donal O'Sullivan volleyed home a shot from Alpha Bangura.

Southall Reserves lost 2-1 to Hendon Under 20 in Round Two of the Middlesex Federation Football League Cup.

November 10th
The Feltham match, which was postponed yesterday due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled for Tuesday November 30th, kick off 7.45 pm.

The home match on Saturday November 27th against Raynes Park Vale has had to be postponed. Landlords Chesham United have now arranged to play a Southern League Premier Division match against Bedford Town on that date.

November 9th
The home match against Feltham was called off about three quarters of an hour before kick off by referee Mr Penfold. The heavy rain in the late afternoon had caused the pitch to be unplayable.
Unfortunately the postponement was too late to prevent players, officials and supporters of both sides travelling to the match.

November 8th
Southall were today found guilty of playing an ineligible player in their Premier Challenge Cup match against Chipstead on October 16th.
The Management Committee of the Combined Counties League ruled that Southall should forfeit the match, which they won 3-1, and be fined £40.

Their opponents on the day, Chipstead, were also found guilty of playing an ineligible player in the same match. They too forfeit the match and are fined £40.

November 6th
Southall produced a much improved performance in their match away to Godalming & Guildford but were unable to stop their losing sequence of league results when two defensive blunders meant that they came away from Weycourt with no points after losing 2-0 to their highly placed opponents.
Back into the starting line up came Alpha Bangura, Marcus Denton and newly appointed  manager Cristian Barrett. The first half was evenly contested with the home side having the better of the chances to score. The deadlock was broken five minutes before half time. In an attempt to initiate a quick counter attack, a throw out from Southall goalkeeper Emmanuel Djorner was intercepted by Joe Chandiram who accurately fired home from 20 yards.
Southall began the second half brightly and after 50 minutes a tremendous a save by Danny Wheeler prevented Denver Morris levelling the scores. Five minutes later Southall conceded a second soft goal when the home side bundled home the ball following a corner. Despite good approach play Southall were unable to seriously threaten the Godalming & Guildford goal and the home side comfortably held onto their two goal lead.

In his post match interview, after his first match in charge, manager Cristian Barrett had this to say.

We started brightly and played some good approach football and despite losing I am encouraged that the back four played well together and is developing an understanding. However, I am disappointed in the manner that we conceded both goals.

I am worried about our inability to score - we are not creating enough chances and our fitness level is poor.

It is a priority to stop conceding soft goals and it is vital that we are all playing in the same way. This can only come through regular training sessions which in turn will improve our fitness.

Southall Reserves lost 5-0 away to CB Hounslow United Reserves.

November 2nd
Cristian Barrett has been installed as the new manager of Southall Football Club.

October 30th
Southall  visited basement side Frimley Green and came away with no points from a game that they fully deserved to lose.

Frimley Green, who were without a league win in twelve matches, took the lead after seven minutes through  Bill Boylan. Southall were restricted to hopeful long range shots and had goalkeeper Emmanuel Djorner and captain Ryan DeCosta to thank as they both prevented the home side taking a comfortable first half lead.

The second half saw the introduction of late arrivals William Obwoyocoo and Jerry Moses and for a very brief spell the visitors began to pass the ball accurately although not seriously threaten Michael Brawley in the Frimley Green goal.

Denver Morris found himself booked for not retreating ten yards at a free kick and Ryan DeCosta was cautioned for foul play. Worse was to follow after 76 minutes when Frimley Green were awarded a penalty. Troy Bantleman was sent off by referee Mr Cooper for insulting and abusive language and Mark Peters made no mistake from the penalty spot. Frimley Green comfortably held onto their two goal lead to win their first league match of the season.

This was an inept performance from Southall who have now lost six successive league matches. On this performance a relegation battle is a distinct possibility.

Southall Reserves  lost 5-2 to league leaders North Greenford United Social Reserves.

On his return from Budapest, the web master has learnt from the Combined Counties Midweek Bulletin that Southall lost 1-0 away to Bedfont last night.
John Edwards was sent off for two bookable offences.

October 23rd
Southall could not reproduce the form that gave them an impressive win last week over Chipstead as they went down to a heavy 5-1 home defeat by runaway leaders Walton Casuals.

In the first half Southall had no match for the accurate passing and intelligent running off the ball by a well organised Walton Casuals side. The visitors took the lead through Danny Ray after 14 minutes and eight minutes later Anthony Gale scored direct from a corner. Just after the half hour Danny Ray scored his second and six minutes before the interval Craig Carley added his name to the score sheet after being gifted a free header by a generous Southall defence.

After the interval Southall made two changes, Vince Cave and John Edwards replacing Justin Walker and Alpha Bangura. The second half was much more even as Walton Casuals took their foot off the pedal and allowed Southall to begin to take the game to them. The home side was rewarded just after the hour when Cristian Barrett headed home a free kick from Jerry Moses. Walton Casuals quickly put pay to the Southall revival when Anthony Gale scored his second and his club's fifth goal after 69 minutes.

The Ashford Town (Kent) web site has the following announcement which involves people formerly associated with Southall Football Club.

............ The most important news this week is to confirm that former England International Terry Fenwick has been appointed first team manager with immediate effect and will be responsible for all football in the club. Having had a few weeks to get used to our strange ways we are delighted that Terry has decided to take up the position on a formal basis. In addition to being Manager Terry has been appointed as a Director of the club in which capacity he will lend his considerable presence to supporting our commercial activities and opening up new avenues for generating income.

To support Terry we have appointed Frank Gill as Assistant Manager and Head Coach with special responsibility for recruiting new players and Simon Sockel who will be Technical director coordinating various aspects of the playing side of the club including the Reserves and Youth teams. Both Frank and Simon were previously involved at Southall and have been responsible for introducing the new players to the club..........

October 16th
Southall bounced back to winning ways with a well deserved 3-1 win over Chipstead in Round One of the Premier Challenge Cup.
Southall refused to be overawed by their highly placed opponents and took the lead as early as the fourth minute through an accurate strike by Jerry Moses. The remainder of the first half was evenly balanced with Man of the Match Alpha Bangura prominent with his surging runs at the Chipstead defence.
The second half started badly for the home side.  Five minutes into the half  Craig Phelps pulled the visitors level with a well placed header. Fired by this goal Chipstead then enjoyed a brief spell of supremacy until on the hour, a flowing move involving Alpha Bangura and debutant Denver Morris, resulted in Morris firing Southall ahead from 15 yards.
Southall looked the more positive team for the remainder of the match and a place in the next round was made secure with seven minutes remaining. Good work down the left hand side by Alpha Bangura gave John Edwards the chance to score his first goal of the season and he made no mistake from eight yards.
Southall will now entertain Farnham Town in the next round of the competition.

Southall Reserves went out of the Middlesex County Football Association Intermediate Cup when they lost 2-0 at home to Middlesex County League Division One outfit St Johns Athletic.

October 9th
Southall lost their fifth game in succession when they went down  2-1 away to much fancied Sandhurst Town.
In a midday kick off Southall surprised their opponents with their positive attitude and application to the match and took the lead on the hour courtesy of an own goal from a Sandhurst player.
As in recent matches Southall were unable to hang on to a narrow lead and allowed Sandhurst to equalise with seven minutes remaining through a penalty converted by Mark Anderson. As the game moved into time added on a decisive goal from Colin Bland allowed  Sandhurst to take all three points from a match which Southall felt that they had all but won.

October 6th
Please note that the game this Saturday away to Sandhurst Town will have a 12 noon kick off.

Club Captain Cris Barrett has been appointed Caretaker Manager until further notice.

October 5th
Southall went out of the London Senior Cup when they were beaten 3-0 by Erith & Belvedere.
There were again many changes to the Southall starting line up and during the first half the side competed well and restricted the Kent side to a few half chances.
The home side broke the deadlock immediately after the interval through Dean Fenton and gradually took a firm control of the game. Further goals by James MacKinnon and Steffan Ball earned Erith & Belvedere a third round tie away to Fisher Athletic.

The web master was delighted  to meet former Southall player Micky Acland at the Erith & Belvedere match. Micky played for Southall in the early 1960's alongside players such as Reg Short, Tony Barrett, Eddie Fincken, Tony Carroll and Tony Brickwood.
Micky scored five times in the 11-0 win over Carshalton Athletic on April 15th 1963.

October 3rd

October 2nd
The web site is again functional and news items since the last update have been added in retrospect.

The web master would like to thank the many individuals - supporters of Southall Football Club and of other clubs, fellow web masters and players and managers of other teams who have sent messages of support to the Club following the departure of the manager and several players to Ashford Town (Kent).

Two defensive blunders late in the game cost Southall all three points when they went down 3-2 away to Chessington United, their third defeat within a week.
The Southall team showed many changes to the team that played in midweek against AFC Wallingford and in the continuing absence of a specialist goal keeper, Jason Walker was forced to don the gloves.

Despite Southall looking the better team, Chessington United took the lead midway through the first half with a long range shot from the impressive Michael Wadman. Southall equalised before half time when Ryan DeCosta headed home a cross from the left by Jerry Moses.
Southall took the lead just before the hour when Moses was again the provider for DeCosta who headed home his second goal of the game.
With a quarter of an hour of the game remaining a misplaced back pass let in Wadman for his second goal of the game and worse was to follow. In time added on by referee Fish a second defensive blunder gifted  Darren Barnes the opportunity to give the home side all three points.
He made no mistake and a dispirited Southall team was left to ponder over what might have been.

September 28th
A Southall team, further weakened from the side that played Sporting Bengal United through injury, unavailability and inability to reach the game through severe road problems in West London went down 4-1 at home to AFC Wallingford.

September 25th
Southall went out of the FA Vase at the first hurdle when they suffered a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Go Travel Kent League side, Sporting Bengal United.

With the departure of many players to Ashford Town (Kent), Southall were forced to field a much  weakened side.

To their credit the Southall players battled hard and came within eight minutes of pulling off an unlikely victory against a team lying second in the Kent League.

Playing without a specialist goalkeeper Southall took the lead on 58 minutes when debutant Vince Cave pounced on a loose ball to steer the ball into the net past goalkeeper Fitzroy McCaulsky.
Two golden chances soon followed to put the game beyond the grasp of the visitors but these were squandered.

The missed chances were to prove costly when in the 82nd minute Jason Walker was penalised for handball. From the resultant free kick substitute Prince Pippin swept the ball past the outstanding Ryan DeCosta to bring the scores level.

The match went into extra time and the superior fitness of the Kent side became apparent. Abul Hussain gave Sporting Bengal the lead after 99 minutes. Southall were then further hampered by the dismissal of Jason Walker for two yellow cards.

As the home team pressed forward to try to take the tie to a replay Daniel Gabriel secured the game and the £600 prize money with a clinical finish in the final minute of extra time.

September 23rd
It has been reported to the web master that manager Frank Gill has left the Club and has rejoined former Southall Director of Football, Terry Fenwick at Ashford Town (Kent).
Several senior players are also reported to have also made the move to Ashford Town (Kent).

Southall Football Club has received no communication  from Ashford Town (Kent) with a view to approach any of its players.

September 18th
An almost full strength Southall side visited newly promoted AFC Guildford and won the first ever encounter through a solitary goal from Erron Dussard.

The match, played at the home of Cranleigh FC, rarely produced the type of football that was the Southall trademark from last season but contained elements of a solid team display against a resolute home defence.
The only goal of the game came in the 70th minute when Erron Dussard and Andre Robinson combined well for Dussard to finish off a flowing move with a crisp shot from 10 yards that gave goal keeper Arjuna Adlam no chance.

The win lifts Southall into third place in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League.

September 14th
A much depleted Southall side recorded their second win in succession with a 4-2 victory over Reading Town. James Hollidge opened the scoring for the visitors in the 28th minute only for Dean Clement seven minutes later to score his second goal in two matches when he bundled home the ball from close range following a corner. Two minutes before the interval Shane O'Sullivan put Southall ahead with a low shot from the edge of the area.

The second half saw three goals in the space of four minutes. Byron Glasgow scored in the 54th minute from the spot after Leon Dussard was brought down in the penalty area following a fine run. Reading Town pulled one back a minute later through Ashaine Murray to make the score 3-2. Shane O' Sullivan completed the scoring in the 58th minute with a superbly hit free kick from 25 yards.

The match marked the full debuts of Mohamed Abarak, Lekan Awosile, Marcus Denton and Dean Clement. Ifeanyi Azagba also made his first appearance as a substitute.

September 11th
Southall recorded their first away victory over Ash United at the fifth attempt with a 2-1 win at Young's Drive. Goals from Steve Sallis and Dean Clement were sufficient to give Southall all three points in a close encounter.
