September 30th
Southall ended their losing sequence with a hard fought and well deserved 3-1 win away to Brazilians FC.

A long list of injuries and player unavailability meant that Southall were forced to play the game with only eleven players and with player manager Ryan DeCosta in goal.

In a mostly even opening period a well taken free kick gave the home side a one goal lead at half time. The second forty five minutes saw Southall come to the fore and goals from Wayne Dale, Orin Fredericks and debutant Tesfa Lowe gave Southall all three points and moved them into third place in the table.

September 23rd
Southall's poor run of results continued with a 2-1 defeat away to Mauritius Sports.

After a bright start from Southall the home side produced the more penetrative football in the first half and were denied a lead by two one-on-one saves by Amit Sohal in the Southall goal.

On the hour mark the home side took advantage of defensive hesitation to take the lead and following this they were guilty of several clear cut chances which should have put the game beyond the reach of Southall.

With two minutes remaining good work from Jerry Moses released Orin Fredericks who made no mistake to record his second league goal of the season. The old adage of a side being most vulnerable when they have just scored was proved by the home side regaining the lead within sixty seconds when lack of concentration and defensive frailty by Southall were punished.

In time added on by the referee Southall had chances to snatch a point but these were not taken.

September 9th
Southall suffered their heaviest home defeat in a league match for over a hundred years when they lost 9-1 to Neasden Foundation.

The visitors took the lead in the first five minutes of the match and looked like adding to the score until Wayne Dale equalised for Southall midway through the half. The score was to remain level until just before half time when two goals in two minutes put Neasden firmly in the driving seat. In the second half the visitors showed their supremacy and deadly finishing when they rattled home six more goals without reply.

Southall were last beaten 9-1 at home on January 19th 1901by Brentford in a Southern League Division Two match. The 1900-1901 season was not a good one for the Southall side as they lost 9-1 away to Wycombe Wanderers and 14-0 away to Grays United.

The only other match in which Southall conceded nine goals at home was in a friendly match against Uxbridge on October 14th 1882.

The record home defeat happened only five years ago on September 1st 2001 when Southall lost 11-1 to Uxbridge in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.

August 12th
Southall came crashing down to earth today with a heavy 5-0 defeat away to a well organised Bedfont Sports side.

Introduction to life at Step 7 was never going to be an easy affair against  a Bedfont Sports side that had prepared for the season with matches against the likes of Hanworth Villa, Feltham and AFC Wimbledon. After an even opening quarter of the game Southall goalkeeper Amit Sohal was forced to retire from the game with a hand injury and an uphill struggle for Southall was then on the cards.

Gavin McEvoy took over in goal and two defensive blunders in front of him gave Bedfont Sports a 2-0 lead at half time.

The second half saw the home side dominate proceedings. As the half progressed the Southall display became disjointed and some players appeared to become dispirited as the level of the Bedfont supremacy increased. Goals in the 51st, 63rd and 84th minutes sealed the game for the home side. The nearest that Southall came to scoring was deep into time added on at the end of the match when Orin Fredericks had a shot cleared off the line.

Interviewed after the game joint managers Ryan DeCosta and Raj Flora had this to say:
DeCosta: I am obviously disappointed with the result. We got a sharp lesson today. We need to pick ourselves up as we have a big game next week.
Flora: Today we had a depleted squad from that on Wednesday. Some players were out and others were signed too late to play today. It was a learning curve for everyone and all the players know that this will never happen again.

Honorary Club Secretary Geoff Harrison had this to say about the proceedings: We will take time to settle and to integrate players into a team and this was obvious today. The fact that we have only played one pre season game meant that we were less prepared than our opponents. I would like to thank our travelling support today some of whom travelled to the match from as far away as Aylesbury and Horsham. I know some of you were disappointed at the lack of quality on display and that we now find ourselves at our lowest ever playing level. If you can come back and support the team then I for one would be delighted to see you. In reply to a question posed by Les  - Southall has never before lost an opening league match 5-0 but there are two worse results on record an 8-1 defeat away to Walthamstow Avenue on September 10th 1938 and a 7-1 defeat at home to Hitchin Town on August 26th 1939.

August 9th
A new look Southall side got their season off to an impressive start with a 4-0 win over Willesden Constantine.

Orin Fredericks

The pre season friendly played at Avenue Park, the new home of Southall for this season, gave an opportunity for the management duo of Ryan DeCosta and Raj Flora to see how their newly assembled squad fared against an established Middlesex County Premier Division side.

The squad of players did not disappoint and Orin Fredericks marked his debut with a well taken hat trick.
Two first half goals from Fredericks and one from DeCosta gave Southall a comfortable half time lead and a much changed team in the second half battled well with Fredericks completing his hat trick late into the half.

Southall can now look forward to their first match in the Premier Division of the Middlesex County League when they travel this Saturday to play Bedfont Sports.
After the match both Raj Flora and Ryan DeCosta were full of praise for their team of players.
Flora had this to say:
A great start to a new team. A new squad of players gelled together quite well for the first time. A great start to a new future.
DeCosta added:
I am pleased with the way that we started. Obviously I feel we are a few weeks behind where we intend to be for the start of a season but the way the players are working, training hard. and playing hard I am looking forward.
