October 14th
Southall went out of the Middlesex County Football Association Intermediate Cup at the first hurdle when they lost 1-0 away to local rivals Indian Gymkhana.

Playing in this competition for the first time in their history Southall found their opponents from the London Commercial League, better organised, more prepared to retain possession of the ball and on the day better skilled.

The Southall performance was for long  periods of the game inept with too many players guilty of below par performances.

The winning goal came after the half hour mark and but for several clear cut chances scorned by Indian Gymkhana and crucial saves by Amit Sohal  the margin of defeat would have been much more emphatic.

To compound a bad day there were four cautions for the Southall side which is in stark contrast to the impressive record of only three obtained in the previous nine matches.

October 10th
Former player Gag Sidhu has kept in regular contact with Reg Short, who made over 400 appearances for Southall in a career from 1950 till the mid 60's.

Gag has left a message on the Southall Message Board giving further information about the outstanding contribution Reg made to Southall Football Club and with Gag's kind permission the article is reproduced here.

Gag has also forwarded me some photographs of Reg and these can be found here along with one that I took of Reg in September 2003 when both he and Gag attended the Southall match away to Feltham.
