Pictured opposite is Southall stalwart Reg Short who was a spectator at the game.

Reg played 21 seasons for Southall from 1946 until 1967. During that time he played over 400 times for the Club.

Reg was Club captain for many seasons and was honoured as the Athenian League Footballer  of the Year, 1963-64.

During his long playing career Reg was never booked - an example that many players of today could do well to follow.

Director of Football Terry Fenwick had this to say about the match:
It was a game of two halves. We were very disjointed in the first half but the second half was a different story. We played some exceptional football throughout the half and the team should have scored at least four goals.

Southall's three match winning run ended when they lost 2-1 at home to Middlesex neighbours Bedfont. In a tightly contested game between two evenly matched opponents Southall went ahead in the first half with a fine headed goal by Ryan DeCosta. The same player got on the score sheet again before half time when he was unfortunate to steer the ball into his own goal to give Bedfont the equaliser.
The second half saw Bedfont score the only goal through Richard Bryant to go home with all three points. In a game which was played in a good competitive spirit an isolated incident saw Bedfont's Adam Griffith receive a straight red from Mr Kitchen for a bad foul with Southall's Justin Roach also dismissed in the same incident after receiving a second caution following an earlier unnecessary one given for dissent.
A report of the Bedfont  game is now on the web site.
